Parents camp out to get children into coveted after school program
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Parents are camping overnight at Orange Memorial Park in South San Francisco in hopes of getting their children accepted into a highly coveted after-school program.
600 children use the after-school program and South San Francisco's Park and Recreation Department says there are only 40 spots left.
Returning students who used the program last year will have priority so the parents of new students are desperate to get in saying it's their only option for affordable childcare.
The licensed after-school program is designed for children enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Sign up starts at 7am Friday.
