Person in mental distress closes part of highway in Concord

A person in mental distress on Wednesday closed part of a freeway in Concord for several hours.

The California Highway Patrol said the person was standing on the Highway 242 overpass at Willow Pass Road.

At 8 a.m., police shut down Willow Pass Road in both directions between Market Street and Diamond Boulevard.

The CHP also closed northbound 242.

All roads were reopened and the situation was "safely resolved" by a little after 11 a.m., according to police.
