Rain slows Bay Area early morning commute
Bay Area (KTVU) - A strong storm system slowed down the early morning Wednesday commute across the Bay Area, but is expected to weaken by the afternoon.
Minor flooding was reported on highways in Oakland and Berkeley around 2:00am Wednesday morning when some of the strongest cells came ashore.
The CHP responded to several crashes during that time including one in Berkeley where a car flipped over.
High wind warnings were issued for Bay Area bridges as well.
Fortunately, there were no major crashes and no reports of anyone getting seriously injured on the roads.
The strongest part of Wednesday's storm is expected to move out of the Bay area by 6:00am, with the rest of the day being mostly cloudy with rain possible during the afternoon commute.
Highs will be in the mid-50s and west winds could reach 10 to 20 miles per hour.
KTVU meteorologist Bill Martin reports that there's also a winter weather advisory in the mountains this morning with up to 2 feet of snow likely to fall above 5,500 feet.
The next chance of rain is expected to be Thursday morning, with rain showers possible everyday through the weekend.
