Random act of kindness on I-880

KTVU's Frank Somerville blogged about a man helping a stranger in a random act of kindness on I-880.
“We hugged and then I got in the car and started to cry.”
Conna McCarthy sent me this picture of a man named Jose.
She never got his last name.
But wanted to tell me how he helped her the other day.
She called it "A Story of Human Kindness."
Here’s what she wrote:
“I had a blow out on 880.
A fella in a truck guided me to side of freeway.
At that point I was driving on rims.
He immediately started changing my tire.
I called AAA, but by the time I maneuvered thru recorded menus, Jose had already changed the tire.
He wouldn't take $$.
I asked him if he was close to his mother. He said yes.
I asked him to tell her she raised a very good son.
We hugged and then I got in the car and sobbed.
I am so humbled by Jose's kindness to me.
I asked him if I could take his picture so I could tell my children of his kindness.
Sending xoxo to Jose (and to his wonderful mother)”
Conna McCarthy
I wanted to tell that story today as a reminder that despite what happened in San Bernardino yesterday, this world is still filled with good people.
People who will help someone in need because it’s the right thing to do. People like Jose.
