S.F. street closures start ahead of Super Bowl festivities

Several streets in San Francisco's Embarcadero area will be closed for the next three weeks ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl 50 festivities.

The closures cover several blocks on the Embarcadero, Justin Herman Plaza, and part of Market Street.

The area is being transformed into a fan fun zone, known as "Super Bowl City."

The southbound lanes of Embarcadero at Washington are closed to traffic.

Market street from the Ferry Building to Beale street is also closed.

Drivers are being told to expect delays.

The closures have already caused some traffic congestion in the area.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency expects as many as 1 million people to come to San Francisco for the Super Bowl City event and another Super Bowl attraction called the NFL Experience at the Moscone Center.

The closures will be in effect until February 12th.
