Santa Rosa now has 1st Black mayor

Santa Rosa councilwoman Natalie Rogers on Tuesday was selected as the city’s newest mayor by her fellow council members.

The historic appointment makes her the first Black woman to lead the North Bay’s largest city.

A city council member is appointed to fill the mayor’s post every two years.

Responsibilities include setting the council agenda and being the city’s spokesperson.

Rogers was first elected to city council in 2020.
