A series of storms will move through the the Sierra from mid-week into next weekend with periods rain, snow, and wind.

This will likely make travel difficult at times in the higher elevations with wind the most likely impact in western Nevada.

There remains considerable uncertainty how these storms will impact areas east of the Sierra crest, including the Tahoe basin.

However, model solutions are starting to focus on the period from Thursday to Friday as the potential period with the heaviest precipitation and the lowest snow levels.

Anyone with plans that include traveling through the Sierra should keep checking the forecast frequently.

There will likely be short periods of little, if any, precipitation during the week, but the timing for these dry periods is not clear at this time.
