Oakland police have arrested two people this morning following a shooting and standoff near Interstate Highway 880.

The shooting was reported at about 3:50 a.m. in the area of East 12th Street and 15th Avenue, police said.

Officers responded and got into a standoff with at least one suspect in the area.

Just before 9:30 a.m., police said a suspect was taken into custody. Shortly before 10 a.m., they said a second suspect had been arrested and investigators had recovered a gun.

During the standoff, the KTVU Fox 2 news crew at the scene saw more than a dozen people, with their hands up, eventually come out of a building.

One wounded person was also helped out of the building. They were taken to the hospital and have since been released.

It's unclear whether any of the people who came out, were involved in the shooting or if they were arrested for any crimes.

A person who was inside the building before the police came, told KTVU that they were playing illegal slot machines inside the building. Police would not confirm that detail.

The building is not listed as an official business on Google maps..

It's located in an industrial area and is surrounded by auto body shops.
