Strangled Chihuahua found in backpack in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Sonoma County Animal Control Services is trying to find out whomever left a small, strangled dead white Chihuahua mix in a black backpack on the side of the road.
In a statement, the agency said that the dead dog was found on July 27 about 3:15 p.m. on Todd Road near Stony Point Road in western Santa Rosa. The dog was about 8 months old and female. The backpack is made by Outdoor Products and has red straps. A veterinarian performed a necropsy on the dog and found that it died of asphyxiation by strangulation. The dog did not have a microchip.
