It was held at Castro

Anish Rao, from Dublin, came out on top for the middle schoolers while Vivian Le, from Fremont, won among the elementary school students.

The competition lasted hours and students had to spell challenging words including "culpable", "omnipresent", and the winning word, "magnanimous".

The top two finishers from each level are headed to the state competitions, which will be held in May.
