Study: Black passengers wait longer than white for Uber, Lyft rides

Researchers have identified a racial disparity when it comes to how riders are treated by ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft.

The joint study, published by MIT Stanford and the University of Washington found that black passengers experienced longer waits for rides and were more likely to have their rides canceled by drivers compared to white riders.

The study analyzed 1,500 rides in Boston and Seattle and found that black riders experienced a 35 percent increase in wait times compared to white riders.

Uber and Lyft have both responded to the study by saying that they don't tolerate discrimination.
