Study: Moms work 98 hour weeks, equivalent to 2.5 full-time jobs
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Anyone who's a mom can attest to the fact that motherhood is a full-time job.
But a new study says, when all's said and done, the time moms put in is actually equivalent of two and a half full-time jobs.
The study by the juice company Welch's surveyed 2,000 U.S. moms, with children ages 5-12 and found that on average, their day runs from about 6:30 a.m. to about 8:30 p.m.
Seven days a week, and that adds up to a 98 hour work week, which means there's not much time for mommy free time.
The moms in the survey said on average, they get about one hour of time to themselves.
And many said they feel like they are running, running, running all the time. The survey found four in 10 said they feel like their lives are a never-ending series of tasks.
The study aimed to look at useful tools and resources mothers use to keep their family going and their household running.
When asked about their top must-haves to get them through the day, the list includes coffee--lots of it, kids' TV channels and shows, iPads, Netflix, a reliable baby-sitter, family help, and wine.
