The U.S. military launched another wave of strikes against Iran on Tuesday, continuing operations that resumed the previous evening. The daytime attacks marked an escalation in the campaign aimed at limiting Iran's ability to disrupt commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command posted to X early Wednesday morning saying strikes in Iran began as early as 6 a.m. and continued for 90 straight minutes.

What we know:

The strikes Wednesday morning were focused on the Greater Tunb Island. Iran’s coastal defense systems and a cruise missile storage facility were hit.
