US Marshals deputy shoots suspect while serving warrant near Hayward
ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (BCN) - A U.S. Marshals deputy shot a suspect while serving an arrest warrant near Hayward Thursday afternoon an Alameda County sheriff's sergeant said.
The shooting happened as deputies with the Marshals Service were serving the warrant near the intersection of Maud Avenue and Kelly Street at about 4 p.m., sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly said.
Members of the Bay Area US Marshal Task Force were on scene when they encountered a 26-year-old male suspect was wanted in the state of Louisiana on weapons and drug charges.
The suspect was hurt by either a grazing bullet or flying debris, but no deputies were injured.
Fairview Elementary School, which is nearby, was placed on lock down in an abundance of caution.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for what was described as a superficial injury and released to go to jail, according to the sheriff's office.
