OAKLAND, Calif. - Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr – a legend in his own right – paid tribute to the life and death of Dennis Richmond, KTVU's legendary anchorman who died Tuesday at the age of 81.
Right before the Warriors played the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, Kerr took time out to offer his condolences to Richmond's family and Channel 2 news.
Kerr described Richmond as "probably the most renowned newscaster in Bay Area history."
Richmond "lived an amazing life and made a huge impact on the Bay," Kerr said.
Other dignitaries and celebrities have also reacted to Richmond's death; from Gov. Gavin Newsom to former U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee.
Richmond worked for KTVU FOX 2 News for over 40 years, and was one of the first Black primetime anchors for a large market.
