Gusty Sunday, Red Flag Warning continues

Chilly, heightened fire danger

Daytime highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 60s on the coast, and in the 60s to 70s around the bay and inland. Gusty and dry offshore winds will develop Saturday across the Bay Area and lasting into Sunday. This will bring critical fire weather conditions with Red Flag warnings in effect for much of the region, according to forecasters.

Weekend fire danger warning prompts park closures and reminder to prepare

Dried leaves and tall grasses blanket Bay Area hills and are at risk of burning if even the tiniest spark is fanned by wind gusts that could reach up to 45 miles an hour this weekend.The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning through Sunday night that includes most of the Bay Area's nine counties.

Morning temps are expected to be chilly, turning to daytime highs in the mid to upper 60s around the Bay Area. According to forecasters, gusty offshore winds will prevail across the region this weekend, resulting in elevated fire weather conditions.
