Bay Area to co-host World Cup 2026

FIFA, the international governing body of worldwide soccer, announced today that it accepts the bid of the San Francisco 49ers, the San Jose Earthquakes and other soccer advocacy groups to be one of 11 cities to host the 2026 World Cup.

World Cup draw: US to play England, Iran and possibly Ukraine

The United States will open its return to the World Cup against the winner of a European playoff among Ukraine, Wales and Scotland, then face England and Iran in high-profile rematches of games played during tournaments of the past quarter-century.
