Wet weather in Bay Area forecast for Saturday

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU & BCN) -- More rain is headed to the Bay Area overnight tonight and into Saturday, with the greatest concentrations expected along the coastal mountains and in the North Bay.

KTVU FOX 2 Chief Meteorologist Bill Martin said an approaching system has some pop and and will tap into moisture in the area.

"As the system moves south, it will begin to rain," he said. "There could be up to an inch of rain."

Martin said the wet weather should begin after midnight Saturday and linger into the morning hours before skies start to clear around noon.

Drivers should expect wet roads, reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions, according to Weather Service officials.

Clogged storm drains and fouled rain gutters could cause localized flooding in many cities.

The rain will spread over the North Bay late this evening, increasing in intensity and moving over the entire region overnight.

The heaviest rain is then expected to move south across the Central Coast region through Saturday morning and afternoon.

Martin said skies will clear in the North Bay starting Saturday afternoon, followed by the rest of the Bay Area later in the afternoon and evening.
