2026 Masters final round: Leaderboard shake ups at Augusta National

The final round of the Masters is underway in Augusta as the world's top golfers compete for a chance to wear the green jacket.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young shared the top spot at 11 under par entering Sunday. The pair teed off at 2:25 p.m. EDT. Several leaderboard change-ups have taken place since.

McIlroy held a historic six-shot lead on Saturday, but that advantage vanished by the 11th green.

Young, who recently won The Players Championship, moved into a share of the lead after posting a 7-under 65. 

Two golfers with deep ties to the Peach State are still within striking distance of the leaders.

Patrick Reed, an Augusta University alumnus, and Macon native Russell Henley are making their way through the pack. Former Georgia Bulldog Justin Rose has risen to maintain sole possession of the lead. 

The winner of the 2026 tournament will walk away with a record $4.5 million.

5:03 p.m. ET: Hatton is leader in the clubhouse at 10 under par, after shooting a final round 66. (-6)

McIlroy climbs back for tie with Rose

4:58 p.m. ET: Rose started Amen Corner with a bogey, dropping him to 11 under. 

After having a birdie look, McIlroy made par on hole 10. He heads into Amen Corner tied with Rose. 

McIlory just beat Rose in a playoff last year. 

Former Georgia Bulldog holds two-shot lead

4:23 p.m. ET: Justin Rose has earned a two-shot lead using his strong iron-play. 

He sits at 12 under heading into the back nine. 

If he won, Rose would become the fifth-oldest major champion ever at the age of 45 years, eight months and 13 days.

Justin Rose takes share of the lead

4:13 p.m. ET: After making a birdie at the eighth, while Young bogeyed at the seventh, Rose took over. 

Rose is 12 under at hole 9. He's finished second in the tournament three times. 

Jordan Spieth previews windy Amen Corner

4:10 p.m. ET: Spieth told the Associated Press that the hills and trees in Amen Corner, holes No. 11, 12 and 13, make navigating the wind more difficult. The corner is the lowest part of the course.

Georgia native in second place

3:41 p.m. ET: Macon native Russell Henley birdied at hole 8 to reach second place. 

Double-bogey gives Young solid lead

3:31 p.m. ET: McIlroy double-bogeyed on the fourth hole to hand the lead over to Young. 

Youngs sits 12 under, leading by two.

3:30 p.m. ET: It's hot and sunny at Augusta National with the current temperature sitting around 84 degrees.

After birdieing the par-5 third hole, McIlroy moves back to a first place tie.

Leaderboard shake up 

2:58 p.m. ET: While Young has jumped to first with McIlroy on his heels, Scottie Scheffler is tied for 3rd with Shane Lowry, both at 9 under. 

Burns has dropped to 5th after a double-bogey 7 on the 2nd hole. 

Sam Burns makes three-way tie for first

2:42 p.m. ET: Sam Burns birdied his first hole, moving him to a tie with McIlroy and Young, who both made par on the first hole. 

Leaders start play at August National

2:25 p.m. ET: Everyone is out on the course, as Young and McIlroy have teed off. 

Scheffler remains not far behind after birdieing the par-4 first hole to start his round. 

World No. 2 and World No. 3 tee off soon

1:55 p.m. ET: World No. 2 Rory McIlory and World No. 3 Cameron Young are set to tee off at 2:25 p.m. EDT. 

The pairing is only the second final featuring two of the top three in tournament history. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is currently tied for 7th at 7 under. 

Xander Schauffele sits five shots back

1:45 p.m. ET: Schauffele has moved to 6 under tournament leaders McIlroy and Young, after chipping a birdie at the 3rd hole. 

Gary Woodland finishes the day

1:32 p.m. ET: Woodland finished with a 6-under 66, leaving him at even par for the weekend. 

The former U.S. Open champion has come a long way after having a brain lesion removed in 2023. His last major win was the Houston Open in March. 

Hovland continues strong

The Swede is continuing to climb the leaderboard after playing the first nine in 5-under 31, one shot away from the tournament record. 

Making his way around Amen Corner, Hovland shot a birdie at the 11th, reaching 6 under. He started the day at 1 over.

Chasers continue entering the course on Sunday, with Augusta University alum Patrick Reed set to tee off at 1:30 p.m. EDT at six under.

Viktor Hovland off to a nice start

12:15 p.m. ET: Hovland has put together a nice start, sitting at 2 under par on Sunday so far.  He hit a birdie at the par-5 8th hole, then two-putted for another birdie. 

Gusty winds pick up at Augusta National 

12:13 p.m. ET: Winds are picking up at Augusta National on Sunday afternoon as the sun heats the course. 

Rahm racks up bogeys

11:45 a.m. ET: At one point a favorite, Jon Rahm saw a difficult round with five birdies and two bogeys on the first nine. 

Potential contenders begin teeing through 11

Several pairs are set to head out within the next hour who could rise through the ranks in the final round. Among them are Sepp Straka and Brian Harman, both with Georgia ties.

Rai sinks an Eagle 

Cheers from patrons at the 7th green rang out as Aaron Rai swung an Eagle, his first of the tourney. 

Rahm drops consecutive birdies

10:20 a.m. ET: Jon Rahm sank consecutive birdies on the par-5 2nd and the par-4 3rd. 

Sergio García throws fit at tee box

10:00 a.m. ET: Sergio García damaged the 2nd tee box after a poor shot. The damage could affect the entire list of golfers who are set to play after the Spaniard. 

García will be fined over the outburst. 

He also broke his driver out of frustration.
