Neighbors shocked over Lafayette homicide. A 35-year-old man was arrested.
LAFAYETTE, Calif. - A man from Chico was arrested on suspicion of homicide Saturday after police discovered a dead body inside a Lafayette home earlier in the day, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
What we know:
David Prince, 35, was taken into custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. His bail has been set at $1 million.
The Contra Costa Sheriff's Office says Prince was spotted walking near the home on Westminster Place at about 11:30 a.m., where a man's bound was found.
The road is a small residential street with a cul-de-sac, just inside the eastern Lafayette city limits and south of state Highway 24.
Prince was detained during the investigation, and was ultimately arrested.
It's unclear if he knew the victim, but neighbors say they recognize his face.
‘Never had anything like this,’ neighbor said
What they're saying:
Mark Sedley, who has lived in the area for 50 years, said there were a lot of police cars and emergency cars swarming the street.
"We've never had anything like this," he said. "Ever."
The sheriff has not released the name of the man who was killed or a motive for the homicide.
