CA state gas tax goes up 8% just before July 4th weekend

Californias gas tax will increase by 8%, or about $0.04 a gallon, starting Saturday.

CA - If you're hitting the road for the holiday weekend, you may be spending a bit more.

Starting today, the state's gas tax will increase 8%, or about $0.04 a gallon.

Although it's going to hurt our pockets a bit, AAA Northern California says it won't deter drivers for the 4th of July weekend.

AAA projects a record of 5.6 million Californians will travel by car.
