Crews knocked down a structure fire at an auto dealership in San Jose Monday night, fire officials said.

Multiple people reported the fire at 7:05 p.m. The fire broke out at the San Jose Auto Outlet, a used-car dealership located at S 1st Street and W Humboldt Street.

The fire started behind the building. An employee went to the rear of the building with a fire extinguisher but the fire roared in from the alleyway, fire spokesman Capt. Brad Cloutier said.

No one was injured, he said.

San Jose Fire Department tweeted photos of the fire at around 7:30 p.m. Multiple crews were at the scene.

Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky in the images the department shared.

Officials said traffic was rerouted in this area just south of Interstate 280.

The office space was significantly damaged Cloutier said. It appears the dealership may have to close for some time.
