Residents displaced by San Jose apartment complex fire

An unknown number of residents are displaced after firefighters responded to a three-alarm apartment complex fire in San Jose on Wednesday, officials say. 

A San Jose Fire Department spokesperson said dispatch received multiple calls about an apartment on fire at around 1 p.m. on the 2400 block of Los Gatos-Almaden Road. 

The housing complex has three separate two-story buildings. Firefighters received updates that people were possibly trapped inside the apartment on fire. 

Eight units have been deemed uninhabitable. The number of people displaced from the fire has yet to be determined. No injuries were reported. 

The fire sparked on the first or second-floor of a building and spread to the attic. The fire primarily impacted one building but spread to a second building. 

Upon arrival, firefighters found that everyone inside was able to self-extricate from the building. At least one pet cat was pulled from the building. 

Santa Clara County Fire Department assisted with the fire. 

The cause has not yet been determined.
