Five arrested for alleged felonies after joint operation by FBI, San Jose law enforcement

SAN JOSE, Calif. (BCN) - Santa Clara County law enforcement agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Monday that they arrested five men for suspected felonies and seized guns and a drug lab in South San Jose over the course of a one month joint operation beginning in April.

The District Attorney's Office, sheriff's office, San Jose police and FBI served nine warrants in April in response to rising gun violence in the Seven Trees neighborhood, according to prosecutors.

The warrants led to dismantling a butane honey oil lab in a home with minors, the seizure of $42,000 in cash, a kilogram of cocaine, heroin, eight pistols and an assault rifle.

Five men are facing felony charges for illegal gun possession and drug sales.

One suspect, Jose Ramirez, was arrested in connection with the Dec. 14, 2018 murder of Nathan Johnson-Harper outside El Rancho Liquors at 1401 Almaden Road, San Jose.

Three other men were arrested for parole or probation violations. "The people of Seven Trees are rightfully proud of their neighborhood," District Attorney Jeffrey Rosen said during a news conference at the local community center Monday.

"None of us in law enforcement will allow anyone to turn your streets, your homes, your parks, your schools or your community centers into crime scenes."

Rosen's office will also donate $5,000 to the Franklin McKinley Children's Initiative, a Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County group in the Seven Trees neighborhood.
