Group breaks into 50 cars in one night
LIVERMORE, Calif. (KTVU) - Police have arrested four suspects in connection with over 50 car break-ins in Livermore and Brentwood.
Two men and two teens have been arrested.
Police arrested 20-year-old John Robertson and 20-year-old Brian Randolph.
A 16 and 17-year-old were also taken into custody, but their identities are not being released because of their ages.
Police say in Livermore, 34 cars were broken into in just 30 minutes and in Brentwood, 17 similar smash and grabs were reported in the parking lot of a Hampton Inn's.
Surveillance video from a neighbor shows the crime happened around 4:20 Friday morning. In the video, you see a car casing the street.
The car then parks and two people run out while the driver remains on the lookout. The suspects then jump back into the car five minutes later.
Livermore Police say the group hit Tiffany Common, Water Lily Common, and Hawk Drive. In all, 34 car break ins in 30 minutes.
Livermore residents reported a suspicious white car in the area. Police ran the plates and the car is tied to a stolen white Lexus in Brentwood.
Maria Perez de Vega, from Livermore, says, "I've lived here for 13 years- nothing happens. The first time I see this and it's scary because I have my grandchild".
She's not alone- seven cars on her street, Hawk Drive, were also targeted.
Brad Davis' passenger side window to his truck was shattered. He says it is odd because the suspects appeared to damage a lot of cars but not much was taken.
Police say they believe the group appears to be from out of town and they are not sure why they targeted Livermore or Brentwood.
There are not any descriptions of the suspects but the license plate of the stolen car is 4JPX560.
