It's going to be a hot, hot day in Bay Area; temps should reach or break records set 100 years ago

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - It’s going to be a hot, hot day in the Bay Area – even hotter than Sunday, which broke records – and the mercury won’t drop until Tuesday, meteorologists says.

Monday’s temps should top out at 105 in Livermore, when the hottest day on record was 108 in 1918, and 100 degrees in Santa Rosa, when the record was set on June 10, 1921 for the same sweltering read on the thermometer. 

Other traditionally cooler cities, such as San Francisco should reach 86 degrees on Monday and Oakland should reach 89 degrees. On Sunday, San Francisco's high of 91 was the hottest recorded temperature since 2017, according to the National Weather Service. 

According to the NWS, heat records could be broken in Half Moon Bay and could tie records in Mountain View and Gilroy.
