Man accused in Vallejo kidnapping wants to plead guilty, court records show
KTVU learned of a major development in a famous and bizarre kidnapping case out of Vallejo.
Matthew Muller, the man accused of the bizarre kidnapping of Denise Huskins, now wants to plead guilty to the crime, documents in the case show.
KTVU discovered, in court records filed late last night, that disbarred attorney Muller plans to ask a judge to change his plea tomorrow.
It's not clear why he wants to change his plea.
But, federal prosecutors say Muller has suffered from mental illness.
They want a judge to make sure that Muller's change of plea isn't being influenced by medications he's taking.
If the judge moves forward with the plea hearing, there will be no trial.
Muller could face up to life in prison. But details of a possible plea agreement have not be released.
Before Muller was arrested for the crime, Vallejo Police accused Huskins and her-then boyfriend Aaron Quinn of faking the kidnapping.
Huskins and Quinn are currently suing Vallejo police for "destroying their reputations."
