Man charged for shooting a Muni bus carrying passengers

The San Francisco District Attorney's office announced charges against a man after he allegedly fired his revolver at a Muni bus.

Adolph Patrick Greene was charged with discharging a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon against a public transit employee, possession of a firearm with a prior conviction, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a loaded firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed firearm by a prohibited person, possession of ammunition, and destroying evidence.

The 58-year-old has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The backstory:

On Monday in the Mission Bay neighborhood around 6 a.m., Greene was walking in the middle of the street when a Muni bus was approaching the intersection of Fourth and Berry Streets.

The driver stopped at a red light, and when the light turned green, Greene was allegedly still walking in the middle of the street. The driver drove forward and tried to steer around Greene, who stopped in front of the bus.

Greene then allegedly took his revolver from his jacket and shot at the bus. The bullet pierced through the windshield and a passenger seat. After firing his gun, Greene allegedly walked away.

San Francisco police officers eventually located Greene, and he was taken into custody. Officials said the gun used was recovered from the water in the Mission Creek Channel.

What we know:

There were between 15–20 passengers on the bus when the incident occurred.

Greene remains behind bars without bail, and his hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
