Man who was shot before being fatally struck by truck ID'd

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A man who was discovered to have been shot after a pickup truck fatally struck him on a San Francisco highway connector ramp Thursday morning has been identified as Jamarr Wilson, according to the medical examiner's office.

Around 5 a.m., Wilson, 42, was walking along the connector from westbound Interstate Highway 80 to the Central Freeway and northbound U.S. Highway 101, CHP officials said.

A gray 1997 Ford Ranger traveling on the connector then struck him, according to CHP officials.

Wilson, a San Francisco resident, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died a short time later. There, doctors also discovered he was also suffering a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

Investigators believe Wilson had been shot before getting onto the highway, although the exact location has not been determined, according to police.

The driver of the pickup truck stopped and cooperated with the investigation and was determined to not have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, CHP officials said.
