Oakland: 2 men found guilty of murder for 2013 shooting of anti-crime activist

OAKLAND, Calif. (BCN) - Two men accused of killing an anti-crime activist and stealing her phone in 2013 were found guilty of murder today by an Alameda County Superior Court jury.
   
Stephon Lee, 25, and Mario Floyd, 24, were on trial for fatally shooting 66-year-old Judy Salamon and stealing her cellphone in the 2400 block of Fern Street in Oakland's Maxwell Park district at 1:24 p.m. on July 24, 2013.
   
Salamon, a critic of Oakland police who was seeking to hire private security for the neighborhood, had apparently been filming the pair before the shooting.
   
Prosecutors said Floyd got into an argument with her, Lee shot her, and then Floyd took her phone.
   
The jury found them guilty of murder and the special circumstance of committing a murder during a robbery.
