Pedestrian killed in Alameda after being hit by car
ALAMEDA, Calif. - A 59-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car Wednesday evening in West Alameda, police said.
The collision happened about 6:30 p.m., when the woman was crossing Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway near Coral Sea Street, according to police.
It appears the woman was hit as a driver was making a westbound turn, but police said the exact cause hasn't been determined.
The woman, an Alameda resident, was taken to a hospital where she later died. Her name was not released.
The driver, a 70-year-old Alameda man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. An investigation into the collision is ongoing, police said.
