The collision happened about 6:30 p.m., when the woman was crossing Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway near Coral Sea Street, according to police.

It appears the woman was hit as a driver was making a westbound turn, but police said the exact cause hasn't been determined.

The woman, an Alameda resident, was taken to a hospital where she later died. Her name was not released.
