When you’re thinking of the top places to live in the country, it’s safe to say that Redwood City and Burlingame are not household names that scream panache or excitement.

For instance, if you Google “top things to do in Redwood City,” the San Mateo County History Museum is top of the search.

But these two Peninsula cities made Trulia’s new “Best Value Neighborhoods” list, which do not highlight the cheapest neighborhoods in the big metro areas of San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Washington, but rather offer the “best combination of price and livability.” Trulia noted that the median home values range from $1.1 million to $1.4 million: prices fueled by a tech boom and high paying jobs at Google Inc. and Facebook Inc.

More specifically, Redwood City’s neighborhoods - Palm Park, Roosevelt, Redwood Oaks and Woodside Plaza – capture the top four spots for value.

Rounding out the top 10, are three neighborhoods in Burlingame – Lyon Hoag, Burlingame Village and Burlingame Terrace - the Sugarloaf neighborhood of San Mateo, and Farm Hill in Redwood City.
