Deadly gunshots in Redwood City
A person died early Thursday morning in Redwood City from gunshot wounds, police said.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting that happened early Thursday morning behind a Whole Foods Market in Redwood City.
Police say the shooting occurred at 1:40 a.m. along the 500 block of Adams Street.
Paramedics found the 18-year-old victim in the street with one gunshot wound, police said.
Later in the day on Thursday, police say they responded to a family disturbance where a 15-year-old had allegedly assaulted a family member. The teen was arrested for the alleged assault and then linked to the overnight shooting of the 18-year-old, according to police.

The teen was booked into juvenile hall in San Mateo County and is facing a single murder charge, according to police.

The 18-year-old victim was identified by the coroner as Jonathan Munoz-Mata, of Redwood City.

Police have not shared what led up to the shooting, but say it was an isolated incident.
"While the investigation is still in its early stages, we want to assure the public that, at this time, there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the community," police said in a statement.
Redwood City's last homicide case was in December, when 57-year-old Juan Antonio Garcia was charged with fatally stabbing his wife and 33-year-old Odilia Borhsicajau in their home.
