Salinas man sentenced for role in robbery of elderly couple

SALINAS, Calif. (BCN) - A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in state prison for his role in the robbery of an elderly couple in Carmel earlier this year, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Friday.
Andrew Karaman was sentenced for two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of elder abuse.
On Feb. 2, two individuals pushed their way into the couple's Carmel home. Those two individuals remain unidentified.
Once inside, the suspects demanded items of value as they threatened the couple and waved around a large knife, according to prosecutors.
Karaman, who had previously worked for the couple's son, targeted the couple due to a professional disagreement with their son.
He then instigated the robbery and acted as the getaway driver, prosecutors said.
