116-year-old Chinese restaurant in San Francisco closing indefinitely

An historic Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that first opened its doors 116 years ago may have closed for good.

The Sam Wo Restaurant in Chinatown served its first meals at its original location on Washington Street shortly after the 1906 earthquake.

It moved to nearby Clay Street 10 years ago.

It's been run by the same family for generations.

But the owners decided to close the restaurant indefinitely on Sunday, after failing to find a buyer.
