That Kid's Got Game: Eight-year-old girl with crazy dribbling skills
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - An eight-year-old girl from Brooklyn, New York has dribbling skills that look like Stephen Curry’s famed warm up tradition.
Samaya Clark-Gabriel has been playing basketball for less than three years and already she has videos of her ball-handling skills that have been viewed millions of time. She’s remarkably focused in her craft. And for that, she’s this week’s talent on That Kid’s Got Game.
Samaya’s mother knew her daughter had exceptional talent just one month after Samaya picked up a basketball. Since then her game has elevated to a level that’s put her on the court with the Harlem Globetrotters at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

But basketball isn’t her main focus, Samaya’s mother says. School is. She trains just once a week with professional basketball trainer Justin Bright and draws inspiration from Warriors superstar Kevin Durant, Harlem Globetrotters Crissa Jackson and Hot Shot, as well as WNBA players Skylar Diggins and Candace Parker.
And since her basketball recognition took off, Samaya has been on many TV shows, including ESPN and Harry. She’s traveled the country and aims to use her platform to help and inspire others.
Samaya’s been doing fundraisers with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since she was seven years old. Additionally, she participates in celebrity basketball games to help spread awareness and raise money for families coping with cancer.
