4 homeless men die in Santa Clara County in a single day

Santa Clara County reports that four men died on the streets: three of them Hispanic or Asian and least 50 years old. A local homeless advocate says December can be one of the deadliest months of the year, especially for unhoused seniors.   

San Jose moves forward with plans to build 32,000 housing units

San Jose has been in a legal battle over the project with Santa Clara County and Milpitas since 2005. The biggest issue was the traffic and congestion new housing would create. But, with homelessness becoming a growing concern in the South Bay, all sides agree making housing more available needs to be the priority. 

Homelessness increased for California Latinos during pandemic

A new report says due to the pandemic, over 22,000 additional people fell into homelessness in California. The data also shows that Latinos experienced an increase in homelessness during that time, more than any other group.   

San Jose to clear large RV encampment at Columbus Park

San Jose City officials say there are about 140 vehicles currently inoperable in Columbus Park. Some people living there say they’re trying to figure out where they’ll go once the encampment is cleared.

14 people die on Santa Clara County streets in September

Santa Clara County says that over a dozen people living on the streets died this month, most of them in San Jose. County officials say a lack of housing, drug use and other health issues are contributing to the increase in deaths.
