Jewish businesses targeted for hate crimes; police investigating

At least two businesses in Palo Alto were targeted by vandals, apparently because they displayed symbols of Israel or for the safe return of Israeli hostages. The Palo Alto Police Dept. said on Thursday one of the incidents is being investigated as a hate crime.

Marin County to hold workshop aimed at helping small businesses thrive

The Marin County Community Development Agency is hosting a community workshop in San Rafael to allow small business owners to weigh in about the city's permitting process, in an effort to find ways to improve. The agency's director, Sarah Jones sat down with KTVU to talk about the event and the mission to streamline more businesses coming to Marin County.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society estimates that there are more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors here in the U.S. And Marcelle Kozocas is one of them. She is the Bay Area woman who documented her experience from her treatment to her changing appearance as she went through recovery. Marcelle joined us in studio along with with the executive director of the Hers Foundation to talk about how she is helping other survivors.

Vallejo family faces uncertainty after father’s ICE arrest

Anahi Aguiniga of Vallejo is pleading for her father’s release from immigration custody. Her dad, Víctor Alejandro Aguiniga Gómez, was arrested while driving home from work in Bay Point. ICE says he was detained because he is undocumented, but the family insists the longtime Vallejo resident has no criminal record.
