More than 160 people still are believed to be missing, and at least 118 have died in the floods that laid waste to the Hill Country region of Texas. The large number of missing people suggests that the full extent of the catastrophe is still unclear five days after the disaster.

It was a heartwarming reunion between a Bay Area teenager and the medical professional who saved his life after a terrible car crash. The accident happened in late 2023. One day after arriving at the trauma medical center, Taneesh Reddy was not showing signs of brain function. The medical team performed a series of surgeries to stabilize his brain injury. Now after a lengthy rehabilitation process, Taneesh is heading off to college.

NVIDIA hits $4T valuation cap

NVIDIA marked a major milestone on the stock market on Wednesday. The Santa Clara-based chip maker is now the world's most valuable company. The company's stock topped $4 trillion in value. With shares rising as much as much as 2.5%. It surpasses Apple's record of $3.9 trillion market value set last December.

DOJ sues California over transgender athletes

The federal government has ramped up its fight with California over transgender athletes. On Wednesday the Justice Department filed suit, accusing the state of violating Title IX by allowing transgender athletes to compete on girls' teams. A state law, allowing students to participate in programs and use bathrooms that align with their gender identity has been on the books here in California for more than a decade.

New expedition seeks to find Amelia Earhart's lost plane

A major breakthrough in one of aviation's greatest mysteries. A newly analyzed satellite image may show what's left of Amelia Earhart's missing plane, nearly 90 years after she vanished without a trace. The image points to a remote island in the South Pacific, where a new expedition will search for the wreckage of her plane. Rick Pettigrew, the executive director of the Archaeological Legacy Institute in Oregon, joined us on 'The Nine' for more insight.
