Driver arrested for DUI in fatal Daly City crash, 65-year-old woman killed
A 65-year-old woman is dead after a fatal rollover crash closed lanes on the northbound side of Interstate 280 in Daly City on Thursday morning. The California Highway Patrol says the driver has been arrested for DUI.
DALY CITY, Calif. - A 65-year-old woman is dead after a fatal rollover crash closed lanes on the northbound side of Interstate 280 in Daly City on Thursday morning. The California Highway Patrol says the driver has been arrested for DUI.
What we know:
CHP and local authorities are investigating the cause of the collision. This was a single-vehicle crash. The highway patrol first reported the crash on the freeway north of Serramonte Boulevard just after 11:10 a.m., according to department incident logs.
The vehicle involved in the crash flipped onto its roof, and one person was trapped inside, according to the CHP.
CHP logs showed that a coroner was called to the scene just after 11:35 a.m.
The identity of the victim is not yet known. CHP said a 19-year-old front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries. That passenger is a woman from Contra Costa County. The driver, who was arrested, remains at the hospital where he will be given a blood alcohol test and booked into the San Mateo Jail once the alcohol has dissipated from his system.
The first and second lanes of the northbound side of Interstate 280 north of Serramonte Boulevard were closed for an unknown duration as crews investigated and cleared the scene.
