Red-tagged Lafayette home on landslide originally listed for $850K sells - for about half the price

LAFAYETTE, Calif. - A Lafayette home that had been red-tagged because it was teetering on a landslide and was listed for $850,000 has sold. For about half the original price.
Keller Williams Realty listing agent Valerie Crowell told KTVU that she closed the deal for the home on Chapel Drive on Wednesday for $450,000.
It was bought by the Rose Investment Group of Walnut Creek about seven months after she listed it. There were six offers during that time, all of which had fallen through, Crowell said. In July, Crowell said she thought she could get the full price. But on Thursday, she acknowledged that she never really expected to sell the house for that much.
The sale took so long, she said, because neighbors are now suing her clients - a couple in their 90s - for allegedly causing the mudslide. And her clients, along with the new buyers, are countersuing, alleging that two other neighbors caused the landslide. "It's a mess," she said.
