Triple shooting at Oakland sideshow; 1 dead
OAKLAND, Calif. - Three people were shot during an Oakland sideshow over the weekend, and one of them ended up dying, police said.
1 killed
What we know:
Officers were called to East 12th Street and 10th Avenue just after 7:45 p.m. Sunday, where a sideshow had taken place.
When the police arrived, they saw what they described as evidence of a shooting, but no victims.
Later, police said they were told that three gunshot victims had shown up at a hospital, and police determined they had been shot where the sideshow had been.
One of those people died, police said, and the other two were listed in stable condition.
‘Insanity’
Why you should care:
"Oakland cannot be a site for sideshows," said Councilmember Noel Gallo, who now serves as interim council president. "We need to enforce the laws that I have. I catch you doing sideshows, I get to keep your car, bottom line, and we do need to make arrests."
Gallo added, "This is uncalled-for — insanity — and there's no reason for bringing that activity to the city of Oakland."

Sideshows, now the target of police crackdowns and neighborhood criticism, were not always scenes of gun violence and dangerous car stunts.
The fatal shooting Sunday is the 11th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.
At this time last year, there were nine homicides in Oakland.
