Oakland Mayor Schaff displayed her excitement Wednesday, a day after learning that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors non-binding vote to approve using property taxes to help fund infrastructure around a proposed A’s stadium at Howard Terminal in Jack London Square.

A move by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is breathing new hope into the possibility of keeping the A's in Oakland.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said last week that county participation in the ballpark development is necessary for the city to move forward with it. But supervisors were reluctant Tuesday afternoon to decide without more information.

The vote could determine whether the team stays in Oakland or moves to Los Vegas. And then, there is the possibility that nothing happens at all and the saga will continue. 

Cody Bellinger hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning and prized midseason acquisition Max Scherzer came out of the bullpen for his first career save, sending the Los Angeles Dodgers past the San Francisco Giants 2-1 in a thrilling winner-take-all Game 5 on Thursday night and into the NL Championship Series.

Sooner than many baseball fans wanted, maybe, but the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers will meet in a winner-take-all Game 5 of the NL Division Series at Oracle Park.

Ray Fosse, the strong-armed catcher whose career was upended when he was bowled over by Pete Rose at the 1970 All-Star Game, has died. He was 74. 

Mookie Betts homered and drove in three runs, Will Smith also went deep and the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 7-2 on Tuesday night to force a decisive Game 5 in their NL Division Series.
