Friday marked one week since a Palo Alto couple disappeared while visiting the Marin County coast.

The search for a missing Palo Alto couple who vanished from the Inverness area last week has turned over to a recovery mission. 

Marin County search and rescue teams set out on Tomales Bay in Inverness in two boats Wednesday morning, looking for any sign of a Palo Alto couple that went missing last Friday. But searchers found no sign of them.

Among the 40 people assisting the effort are four separate K9 teams from CalOES. Marin County Sheriff's Office is coordinating the search.

A Novato man, who went missing on a Monday hike, was found alive Tuesday night during an intense search effort. 

An all-out search Monday for a missing couple on the Marin coast failed to find any trace of them. 

Dylan Schwarz, 32, and Aidan McWhinney, 30, likely died as a result of "illicit substance utilization," the sheriff said.

Deputies believe the pair may have gone hiking in the Inverness area.

The project, scheduled to open this summer, includes 53 one-bedroom residences at 2626 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., about one mile north of downtown.

The first suspect, 22-year-old Dixon Hernandez Gonzalez of San Rafael, was arrested Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. during a countywide sweep of people on probation that was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies in Marin County, according to police officials. 

It's a smartphone app that allows residents to see and hear emergency dispatches as they happen, and potentially save a stranger with CPR or an automated external defibrillator, or AED. 

Hazmat crews responded to the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood after the initial first responders reported a possible hazardous materials incident related to the death.

Organizers say the Puppy Center is being created to establish a healthier environment for mothers to nurture their pups, and to serve the growing number of guide dogs who "transform the lives" of those who are blind or visually impaired.

The strategy, detailed in a 120-page report, aims to reduce access to suicide, teach warning signs, reach out to those at risk, and provide resources that save lives. 

The Yes on C group says the measure will improve emergency alert and warning systems, improve evacuation routes and infrastructure for quicker evacuations, reduce hazardous vegetation and expand defensible space and fire safety inspections.
