A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck between the islands of Jamaica and Cuba on Tuesday. 

A 3.3 magnitude earthquake hit an area approximately 9 miles southwest of Gilroy in San Benito County early Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said the deployment comes in response to the Puerto Rican government's request for assistance.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 8:54 a.m. (1254 GMT) quake hit 8 miles southeast of Guanica at a shallow depth of 3 miles. It was followed by several aftershocks, including a magnitude 5.2 temblor less than two minutes later.

A small 2.9 magnitude earthquake rattled an unincorporated part of Santa Clara County southwest of Gilroy early Wednesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

A San Jose resident vacationing in Puerto Rico says nothing prepared them for the earthquakes that have hit the island this week. Her organization is taking monetary donations for the victims.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck northwestern Iran early Friday, killing at least five people and injuring over 300 others, officials said.

The quake was centered about a mile deep, and near the northern perimeter of the Kincade Fire.

The USGS reported that the first quake hit at 9:08 p.m. Saturday, measuring magnitude 1.6, and occuring about 3 miles south of San Ramon.

The USGS reports a magnitude 2.8 quake hit less than two miles from Cupertino at 10:06 a.m. Saturday.
