Crews battling vegetation fire in Byron, four structures destroyed

East Contra Costa Fire Protection District is working to contain a vegetation fire that has burned four structures. The fire began shortly after 5 p.m. in the 1200 block of Byron Highway.

Firefighters extinguish Woodside vegetation fire, one firefighter injured

Firefighters have stopped the progress of a 3 to 5-acre vegetation fire in the Huddart Park/Teague Hill area of the Woodside western hills in San Mateo County, according to fire officials. Fire investigators determine Golf Fire caused by discarded cigarette

A discarded cigarette ignited the Golf Fire in Lake County, Cal Fire said Saturday following "a meticulous and thorough investigation." The fire, which started about 1 p.m. Thursday on Soda Bay Road and Golf Drive in the Lake County community of Kelseyville, has burned about 20 acres and was about 80 percent contained as of Saturday morning.

Vegetation fire in Dublin burns 248-acres, fully contained

A grass fire in Dublin has grown to 248-acres on Friday afternoon and firefighters have ordered a third alarm response. The grass fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Cal Fire and the Alameda County Fire Department said shortly before 2 p.m. that firefighters were working to put out a 5 to 10-acre fire that was burning in the area of 3840 Camino Loop in Dublin.

Camp Fire victim dies in hospital, wildfire death toll rises to 86

A man who had been hospitalized since the deadliest wildfire in California history incinerated a town in November has died, raising the number of people killed to 86, authorities said Thursday. The Butte County Sheriff's Office said 72-year-old Paul Ernest, of Paradise, succumbed to his wounds but gave no other information.
