Mental health professionals across the Bay Area are hearing from people, alarmed about possibly catching the virus themselves.  But experts say it's important to keep perspective- while taking precautions. 

So far, there are few signs that the job market has been affected by the disease, but most economists expect hiring to slow in the coming months.

“The ship will not come on shore until we appropriately assess the passengers,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said.

In light of the novel coronavirus outbreak/COVID-19, Facebook is encouraging Bay Area staff to work from home starting Friday, March 6 a spokesperson said on Thursday. 

The majority of COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases in the Bay Area so far are in Santa Clara County. On Thursday, health officials took the added step of advising people to stay away from large gatherings. 

Preschool Operations Director Beckie Crozier said upwards of 300 infants and toddlers attend this West San Jose location daily.

Some nurses at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital say they are too understaffed and undertrained to handle a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It is the only level one trauma center in the city.

London Breed asked that people not treat anyone with the disease poorly, and cited harmful outbursts of "xenophobia," especially against Asian people as coronavirus started in Wuhan, China.

San Francisco confirmed two diagnoses of the coronavirus and one of those patients infected is the parent of a student at Lowell High School. 

The nurses union petitioned the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to adopt an emergency temporary standard to protect health care workers, patients, and the public.

The teacher has not been back to work since February 26, and is receiving medical care, according to a statement released by the school district.

Public health officials in Santa Clara County on Thursday confirmed six new confirmed cases of coronavirus were announced Thursday, bringing the total of cases in the county to 20.
