Twitter on Saturday launched a subscription service for $7.99 a month that includes a blue check now given to verified accounts as new owner Elon Musk overhauls the platform’s verification system just ahead of U.S. midterm elections.

A group of former employees filed a lawsuit, even before the doors opened at Twitter Headquarters Friday.

Even before Elon Musk, Twitter employees were already looking at possible layoffs, but not on the scale new owner Elon Musk has envisioned; a huge number still unknown, but likely in the thousands. It could be between a thousand to five thousand layoffs.

Twitter began widespread layoffs Friday as new owner Elon Musk overhauls the social platform and some employees filed a class action lawsuit alleging not enough time was given to them before getting the boot. 

The people who got laid off from Twitter were tweeting about their goodbyes using the hashtag, #LoveWhereYouWorked.

Elon Musk fired the Board of Directors Monday, as a small group of protestors outside Twitter headquarters and an open letter from the biggest advertising association in the world is showing the scrutiny on Musk as he tries to steer Twitter through the transition.

Elon Musk, Twitter's new owner, tweeted and then deleted an anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theory about the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. 

Twitter's new owner, Elon Musk, could be ordering layoffs at the social media giant as soon this weekend, according to the New York Times. 

The mass exodus from Twitter that new owner Elon Musk threatened did not materialize, at least for today at Twitter headquarters.

Elon Musk posted a message on Twitter saying "the bird is freed" just before 9 p.m. in San Francisco Thursday. It came just minutes before the midnight deadline Friday in Delaware to close the Twitter deal.

Elon Musk is now in charge of Twitter, several outlets reported Thursday evening. There are reports the company's CEO and CFO have left the building.
