Vandals ransack South Bay preschool, smash windows forcing it to close

A San Jose preschool is forced to close after vandals smashed windows and thrashed rooms. The break-in occurred sometime overnight Wednesday at the Tomorrow Montessori School on Almaden Road. The school is hiring security. This is the first time the school has closed in 16 years.

Mass May Day protests expected in the South Bay next week

A number of businesses in San Jose are planning to shut their doors next Monday as part of a May Day protest. Given today's political climate, organizers expect it to be one of the biggest strikes in years. On Willow Street, stores already have signs on their storefronts notifying customers they won't be open on Monday.

Suspected drunk driver crash kills mother and daughter

A South Bay family is mourning the loss of two relatives. A San Jose woman and her 92-year-old mother were passengers on their way home from church Thursday night when the car they were in was hit by a suspected drunk driver.

Caltrans explains notorious Hwy 17 'wet spot'

It?s hard enough driving on Highway 17 at Big Moody Curve between San Jose and Santa Cruz. The curve is infamous for accidents. Now, a wet spot southbound along that sharp curve past Bear Creek Road before Redwood Estates is making driving even more dangerous.
