In East Oakland, trees came crashing down on a home and injuring a woman on the same block where a tree severely damaged an apartment building in January.

Heavy rain and powerful winds lashed the Bay Area on Tuesday, as another atmospheric river spread across the Golden State.

A storm system is approaching California and will impact the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast starting early on Tuesday. 

On Tuesday, another atmospheric river is expected to bring high winds, heavy rain and possible flooding, with the greatest impact felt on the Peninsula and in the South Bay. PG&E says it’s already mobilizing its crews and preparing to get to the hardest hit areas first. 

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders for two neighborhoods in Manteca and Lathrop. Many folks saw no reason to leave since this is an expected event every five to seven years. But with the melting snowpack, a new threat looms.

While an abundance of water is making its way into California reservoirs, federal, state and local dam operators are worried about two uncontrollable things: more atmospheric rivers and a quick melt of the snowpack in the mountains. 

The flood waters in the Pajaro Valley, just outside of Watsonville have receded. But people who were forced to evacuate are concerned about what's ahead.

Many residents said they felt forgotten about, they lost hundreds of dollars when their food spoiled and most importantly, they want to know how PG&E will keep it from happening again.

The Pajaro levee break was no surprise and officials know it was weak and vulnerable to high, fast water flows. 

Kyle Doan was last seen Jan. 9 when he was swept away by floodwaters near Paso Robles. With a break in the rain and a couple of specially trained search dogs, a new search effort began Wednesday.

On a muddy, closed stretch of Salinas Road in Pajaro, looking to the west provides a view of what was a farm field. But as of Wednesday, it’s the latest Mother Nature-made lake in Monterey County.

The effort to fix the levee along the Pajaro River is making progress, but Highway 1 remains closed.

PG&E said that as of Wednesday, 99,000 customers were still without power, with much of the outages occurring in the South Bay.

A giant oak tree toppled onto the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pleasanton.

Winds howling through the Bay Area Tuesday knocked out power and forced several schools to close. Here is a list of schools that are closed Wednesday.
